Hall of Mosses
The Hall of Mosses trail is an easy .8 mile round-trip trail in the Hoh Rainforest. It’s located in Olympic National Park and is truly one of the most unique trails in the world. My pictures do not nearly do it justice, the moss is incredible. It’s like stepping into a Dr. Seuss book or some kind of National Geographic article. There are only a few places in the world with temperate rainforests and so it’s a pretty special place.
This was my son’s 2nd time hiking this trail but his first time doing the entire thing without a carrier or being carried for part of it. I guess he’s really a hiker now! I’ve walked this trail many times since I was a child. Including during the snow (which was magical!), and during the driest part of the summer. I can say with confidence that during the rainiest time of the year, during late winter or spring is the best time. Everything is moist and mossy and there are little drips of water everywhere.
It’s about $25 for a week long pass to Olympic National Park and you are required to pay at the park entrance. But it’s worth it!
